Pro Beauty Makeup Competitions Win
May 28th in the RDS Dublin I competed in the Carnival Couture Makeup Competition. I nearly didn’t go as my son had been unwell in the week leading up to it but he was much better by the Saturday evening and so I packed up the kit and we were on the road RDS bound early the Sunday morning.
I had entered the makeup competition in the RDS previously in 2008 (but back then it was called MASC, i won both my categories and the overall prize as a student that year) so as we approached it felt so nostalgic to be back competing again so many years later.
We checked in and made our way to the competition area which was amazing it had the full Hollywood mirrors and table with high stool for each contestant.
When the judges came round to meet everyone I had a huge fan girl moment meeting Glow Up star James Mac, who I absolutely love. James was an absolutely beautiful person who was so gracious with his time so down to earth.
My gorgeous sister Sinéad, ever and always by my side was my model on the day and looked absolutely stunning. Also my source of calm and confidence so I couldn't have done it without her.
When our time was up all the models did a walk around the RDS showcasing our looks. The categories were History of Catwalk, Into the Future, Hollywood Glamour and my category Carnival Couture.
Then came time to announce the winners, one by one the categories were called out and we cheered for the winners. Carnival Couture came along and my name was called out, I was in absolute shock because in my mind I thought the girl working next to me had won. I looked to my sister who was lined up with the other models and we both laughed with excitement.
I went up on stage to accept my crystal plaque and certificates from the one and only James Mac in what was such a surreal moment having watched him on TV for so long. James stayed and chatted and gave me so much feedback and advice and honestly that was probably the best part of the whole day.
Fast forward to today and i’ve opened up Professional Beauty magazine to see a write up on the competition with the winners listed and a picture of my sister modelling my look. Great start to my Monday morning 🥰
